Industries Metal fabrication

Metal fabrication, job by job. Cut lists, heat numbers and costs together.

Fabricators turn sheet, bar and tube into parts through cutting, bending, welding and finishing. Dika Ops links quotes, cut lists, material stock and work orders, so each job carries its material records and its real cost.

The challenge

What slows metal fabrication down.

01Material waste

Sheets are nested and cut for many jobs. Offcuts and remnants are rarely recorded, so they are bought again.

02Heat numbers and certificates

Customers ask which heat number and mill certificate went into a part. The answer is buried in paper.

03Quotes that miss the cost

Material, machine time, bending, welding and finishing are estimated by feel. Actual cost is learned too late.

04Subcontract steps

Galvanising, powder coating or heat treatment happens outside. Parts leave and nobody sees when they are due back.

01

Quotes from drawings and cut lists

Build a quote from the cut list, material grade and thickness, and the operations needed, then keep every revision.

  • Quote lines by part and operation
  • Revision history per quote
  • Accepted quote becomes the work order

02

Material stock with certificates

Receive sheet, bar and tube by heat number and keep the mill certificate with the stock record.

  • Heat number on receipts
  • Documents attached to the lot
  • Remnants kept as stock

Work orders by operation

Split each job into cutting, bending, welding and finishing, and follow progress through the shop.

  • Operations in sequence
  • Materials issued against the job
  • Status for every order

04

Purchasing and subcontract

Order material from suppliers and send parts out for coating or treatment with an expected return date.

  • Purchase orders for material
  • Subcontract purchase orders with due dates
  • Supplier history and profile

How it runs

One flow, start to finish.

  1. 01Quote

The quote is priced from material, operations and any outside processing.

  2. 02Order and material

The accepted quote creates the job, reserves stock or raises a purchase order for sheet and bar.

  3. 03Cut and form

Work orders issue material by heat number and record each operation.

  4. 04Finish

Parts go to outside processing if needed and return against a due date.

  5. 05Ship and invoice

The job is delivered with its documents, and the invoice is raised from the order.

FAQ

Metal fabrication, answered.

Can we keep heat numbers and mill certificates?

Yes. Material can be received by heat number, and documents can be attached to the record so they are found with the job.

Can we track offcuts and remnants?

Yes. A remnant can be booked back into stock as its own item, so it can be used on the next job.

Can we see the real cost of a job?

Work orders record materials and operations against the job, so you can compare actual cost with the quote.

Does it support outside processing?

Yes. Parts sent out for coating or treatment can be handled as subcontract purchase orders with an expected return date.
